This paper reports the effects on performance, activity, metabolism, oxidative stress, liver health, and immunity of late lactating Jersey dairy cows that received up to 8% spent hemp biomass in the diet for 1 month, followed by 1-month withdrawal.
Our data indicated a minor effects of spent hemp biomass on the performance and biological biomarkers of the dairy cows with some possible positive effect long-term. The only issue detected was the increase in bilirubin in blood, that might indicate some reduced ability of the liver to clear endo and xenobiotics.
Congratulation to Agung for publishing his first paper as first author in our lab!
